In astrology, for those who are not familiar with this – there’s an association, and in some degree maybe an overlap in meaning, between signs, planets and houses. How much is this taken into account, or even considered as valid, depends on the astrological approach. Modern astrologers see an overlap between the 12 zodiac signs and the corresponding 12 houses, while in traditional, or ancient astrology, like the Hellenistic tradition, there’s hardly any association between the houses and the signs. It’s more of a modern invention, probably something that is expected, for there’s 12 of each.
Let’s take the modern approach, for a moment, and consider that there’s some overlap in meaning between signs, their ruling planets and the supposedly corresponding houses. Maybe not an overlap but an association in meaning. And lets take Uranus, for example, as a trigger for its known associations of revolution, freedom, progress and rebellion, among other things, and see what it does in personal chart when it transits Jupiter from some major angle, or enters Sagittarius, or goes through the 9th house.
It’s true that basically planets symbolize the “energy”, the push, the manifestation, the “what”; signs symbolize the “how” – in what way the planetary “energies” do manifest; and houses represent the “where” – in what area of life the “what” and “how” happens. But when a potentially disruptive transit like Uranus over either of the 3 will actually have a quite similar effect, because in the case of Jupiter, Sagittarius and the 9th house we’re dealing with different aspects of the search for meaning and philosophical frameworks, among other things.
So when a revolutionary, and potentially eccentric influence of Uranus touches at least one of the aspects of this particular triad, quite probably the person that goes through this will experience an overhaul of one’s belief systems, in one way or another, and probably in a very unexpected way, which is also common with Uranus. It probably will bring a touch of futurism, an association with technology of some sort, a greater sense of and concern for the common good of humanity as a whole, impatience with what is perceived as the “old ways” of belief and philosophical frameworks of meaning giving, whatever they may be, etc. – all courtesy of our friend Uranus.
Speaking from a personal experience – it can be refreshing, even mind blowing, though potentially off-putting to others, especially those who are not open to the Uranian energy and symbolism, of sudden revolutionary change, or at least a moderate progress from what is known and habitual to the new and unexpected. To what degree this is so with different people is really a matter of temperament and culture, in my opinion, but this is a subject for another post.
