Is there an astrological ending of the year that can be correlated to the ending of the human-created calendar year? It’s generally presupposed among astrologers, especially the traditional ones, that astrological cycles and phenomena are inherently natural and therefore distinct from and not dependent on the humanly constricted time frames.
But still, everybody is busy these days to sum-up the calendar year to come up with some insights about the passing year, so why not to try here?
By and large, this year has seen a major transition of the heavy planets, what are called the generational planets, from one sign to the next – Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto all moved on. Also Jupiter, but he does it every year, so it’s less significant.
Pluto moved to Aquarius for the final time after moving back and forth on the Capricorn-Aquarius cusp since 2023. The others switched signs for the first time and also moved back, and in the first half of the next year 2026 they will also move on “for good”, or till they’ll switch to the next sign again in some years, that is.
Those kinds of concentrated changes are considered as major shifts in the collective consciousness, an end of one era and a beginning of a new one. This is true when just one of those planets does this, but this year (and the next) we have all 3 collective generational planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) do this all virtually at the same time! (Plus Saturn, which is kind of in-between generational and personal).
It can’t be stressed enough how significant astrologically this shift is. This can be summed up as a shift from a collective, global emphasis on the practical, pragmatic way of approaching things, and dealing with issues on the agenda that have to do with the tangible and down to earth (Pluto and Uranus in the earth signs of Capricorn and Taurus, respectively), and that have a subjective, emotional and idealized perspective to them (Neptune in the water sign of Pisces), to an emphasis on the intellectual, social and cerebral way of dealing with the issues on the agenda, that are characterized by being more to do with the social, ideological and communicative sides of life (Pluto and Uranus in the air signs of Aquarius and Gemini respectively). This is being at the same time accompanied by a much more direct, action-driven, forceful and immediate approach to tackling those issues (Neptune in Aries).
In addition, these 3 outer planets not just will be in new signs, but they all will have, at least for several initial years, a very favorable aspect between them: 120 degrees (trine) between Pluto and Uranus while Neptune in Aries will have a 60 degrees (sextile) with both of the other two, which creates a minor triangle. This has a potential of hopefully to manifest a harmonious transition and a relatively frictionless and successful resolutions to the (new) issues that will rise up to the social and global agendas.
Despite those big, slow planets being collective and generational in nature, due to the slow pace of change from one sign to the next, they obviously have an impact on a personal level as well, IMO, as they transit the specific houses that govern specific areas of life in each and every one of us. It differs from person to person how strong the change will be felt on a personal level, depending on the prominence of their location in the personal chart, but everybody will feel their collective impact for sure, as the shift in the zeitgeist, or the signs of the time, will change significantly (and is already changing) what people focus on and how they deal with issues as a society.
